I learned about dead hedge fences and decided to do my own take on them because we certainly have enough honeysuckle and the pine trees had many dead branches that I did not want to just burn.
My family helped me create an L shaped dead hedge. I plan on continuing to stack up the limbs as they come and as the hedge settles. I am going to have compost set up in the middle of the L shape and if I ever get those bees they are going to go on the other side.
The hedge will provide a windbreak for the bees and it defines my composting area.
I also love that I am not burning these branches & providing habitat to our lovely Indiana bugs.
As I am continuing this native plant journey and trying to be a good steward to the 3 acres we have. I am finding that it is more important to "dream big" and do as much as you can and then expect nothing to come of it.
